Getting More Help
If you're looking for more than the LOSURS site is able to offer you, then there are a couple of ways to get more help from our members:
- The simplest way is to post to the Q&A mailing list with your problem, and offer pizza and beer (and/or pop) for anybody who offers to come over and fix it in person.
- Alternatively, if you're looking for a more professional solution, several of our members work as computer consultants, either on their own, or through consulting companies. As a convenience to interested parties, LOSURS maintains as a list of members who offer such services.
You may also want to consult our list of other users' groups to find a Linux users' group closer to you, or users' groups for other computing platforms.
If you're looking for more formal forms of training, or Linux certifications, we have some training and certification information too.
Whether you're looking for reasons why you should be using Linux and open source software, or you're looking for some information to use in convincing your employer to make the switch, you've come to the right place. We have a collection of useful Linux advocacy documents available here, along with links to external advocacy resources.
Places to Get Linux Software
Linux software (the distributions themselves, and/or other boxed software for Linux) is available at many local software retailers. Alternatively, most distributions and a very sizeable quantity of other software is available for download at no charge on the Internet. Web sites such as Freshmeat would be a good place to start looking for such software.
